2017: The year at Parkland

The beginning of a new year is a time to plan for the future but it is also important to celebrate accomplishments. Below is a brief review of the many amazing things that happened at Parkland over the past year. Together, we will make 2018 even better. Thank you for standing for Parkland!

  • Parkland earned the Texas Ten Step Program facility re-designation from the Texas Department of State Health Services. The Texas Ten Step Program encourages breastfeeding as the preferred method of feeding for newborns and infants.

New Parkland Hospital

August

  • The new Parkland hospital opened to patients on Aug. 20, 2015 and a new chapter of caring for our patients and community began. In 2017, we celebrated two years of making patient care better, safer and more technologically sound in our new building.

  • Parkland received the Southwest Momentum Award from the Women’s Business Council for achieving the highest percentage increase in the number of women’s business enterprise suppliers contracted during the past year.

  • Parkland marked its 30th year with certified nurse-midwives playing a key role in its labor and delivery department. The certified nurse-midwives services at Parkland is one of the largest and most respected in the country.
