Meet Ella

Breast cancer is all too familiar to Ella Weese Davis. When her oldest daughter, Yolonda, was diagnosed with Stage 4 breast cancer Ella became her shadow – staying with her for exams, sitting by her side during chemotherapy and staying overnight in the hospital. Yolanda lost her battle in 2006. Ella’s would start 10 years later.

During her annual mammogram at the Parkland breast center in 2016, a spot was found on Ella’s right breast. A biopsy confirmed it was breast cancer. After a lumpectomy, chemotherapy and radiation, she is now cancer-free and credits God’s grace and the wonderful care she received at Parkland.

“I’m a senior with Medicare so I can go wherever I want to go,” said Ella. “But my mother always said Parkland had the best doctors in the world, so this is where I choose to go.”

“All the doctors and nurses were wonderful and I had the best surgeon in the world,” she added. “I met some of the warmest, professional and kind people. I could not have put together a better team to care for me. Everyone was fabulous. God blessed me with the best of the best doctors.”
