Parkland is redesigning healthcare
Parkland's Outpatient Antibiotic Therapy (OPAT) program is proving that healthcare can be delivered in a way that improves the health of the population while decreasing costs.

Since 2009, the program has trained patients to safely administer their own IV antibiotics at home in an effort to reduce hospital stays and improve their experience.

Meet Michael A. Horne, EdD

Michael A. Horne, EdD, a career educator and social entrepreneur, has been named president and CEO of Parkland Foundation. He replaces David E. Krause who last year announced his plans to retire in fall 2019.

Dr. Horne will join Parkland Foundation on Aug. 5.

Parkland's home remedy

After he received treatment for a leg injury at a hospital in New Mexico while on vacation, Tim developed a life-threatening infection that required surgery. His recovery would require 24/7 antibiotic treatment but he resisted going to a rehabilitation hospital.

Healthy feet are happy feet

More than 35,000 Parkland have diabetes that puts them at risk for a diabetic foot issues that can lead to amputation and disability.

The Global Diabetes Program at Parkland recently launched the ‘Healthy Feet’ initiative to identify patients at high risk for a diabetic foot problems, connect them with preventive tools and encourage them to eat healthy and stay active.
