February 14, 2013
Parkland Foundation has been named one of eight beneficiaries of the 2013 Crystal Charity Ball, receiving $1,252,316 for the Crystal Charity Ball Pediatric Burn Center & Playroom in the new Parkland hospital. The gift is the largest awarded in 2013 by the committee and extends a more than 25-year relationship between Parkland and Crystal Charity Ball.
“We are grateful to Crystal Charity Ball for their continued generosity and concern for the young patients in our burn unit,” said David Krause, Parkland Foundation president and CEO. “Of the 1,600 burn patients seen annually at Parkland, one in three is a child. The funds provided by Crystal Charity Ball will help ensure that, in addition to receiving the best burn care in the region, children will be able to play, have fun, and continue to be kids during their lengthy stay in the hospital.”
Established in 1962, the Parkland Burn Center is the second largest civilian burn center in the nation, providing care to more than 1,600 patients each year. Serving North Texas and surrounding areas, this comprehensive burn center is one of only 63 verified burn centers in North America and provides all services from emergency treatment to intensive care to rehabilitation and outpatient follow-up care. Parkland is also renowned for developing the standard in burn care known as the “Parkland Burn Formula.”
The 2013 Crystal Charity Ball will be Saturday, December 7, 2013 at the Hilton Anatole Hotel. For information regarding Underwriting opportunities, please call 214/526-5868 ext. 14 or visit crystalcharityball.org.
