Baby and mother at ParklandThe Women & Infants Specialty Health (WISH) Department at Parkland Health & Hospital System is dedicated to providing care for women in every stage of life.

Parkland offers a range of women’s health services, from basic gynecology check-ups and routine prenatal care to high-risk pregnancy care and complex surgeries, meeting the unique health care needs of women throughout our community.

Parkland serves patients experiencing complications before delivery and provides postpartum care, including care for breastfeeding mothers. In addition, it houses the gynecology clinic, which offers specialty services related to cervical dysplasia, gynecologic surgery, gynecology/oncology and urology/gynecology. Specialized services include OB-GYN sonography and breast imaging.

A Closer Look at WISH

  • 1 in 250 babies born in the U.S. are born at Parkland.
  • Thanks to nine prenatal clinics located conveniently throughout Dallas County, 97 percent of the women who deliver at Parkland receive prenatal care.
  • Parkland averages 10,000 deliveries per year, with 28 babies on average born at Parkland daily.
  • 600,000 diaper changes occur at Parkland each year.

WISH in New Parkland

The WISH clinic located in Parkland hospital occupies 30,000 square feet. Patient volumes have remained steady at approximately 44,000 for the past several years due to space limitations. The new Parkland hospital will more than triple the WISH clinic size and number of patients that can receive care.
